Though the management has always been keen on appointing Rahul Dravid as the head coach of the Indian senior team, it has not been easy to persuade him, said Sourav Ganguly, president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
In fact, Sourav Ganguly has decided to resign as director of the ATK Mohan Bagan football team. ATK Mohan Bagan, which bought the Lucknow franchise in the IPL, is still owned by RPSG.
Though the management has always been keen to appoint Rahul Dravid as the head coach of the Indian senior team, it has not been easy to persuade him, said Sourav Ganguly, president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Ganguly said it was difficult to persuade Dravid despite repeated requests from both BCCI secretary Jay Shah. Ganguly admitted that at one point he almost gave up the idea of including Dravid on the board. Dravid said he had to stay away from home for a long time.
“I, Jay Shah, have been keeping an eye on Rahul for a long time, but he did not agree to work for the national team as he is away from home. He has been away for about 8-9 months a year and has two young children. ” Ganguly said in an interview with Boria Mazumdar on the show ‘Backstage with Boria’. “At one point we gave up hope,” Ganguly said.
Ganguly said Dravid had revealed that not only the BCCI but also the players wanted him on the board. I have spoken to him personally many times. I know it’s hard. But try and see for two years. If you find it too difficult we will see another way. Let’s say. Fortunately, he agreed. ” Said Ganguly.
