India will take on New Zealand in a two-match Test series in Kanpur from Thursday. The last time the two teams met was in the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) earlier this year. New Zealand won by eight wickets. Former Pakistan cricketer Salman Butt has said that playing at home is good for India. Butt said spin would play a key role in the two-match Test series. Veterans Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have said they will excel in Tests.

Left-arm spinner Akshar Patel is also in the Indian squad. He hopes to play in the final squad for the match in Kanpur. Salman Butt said on his YouTube channel that Akshar is not a replacement for Jadeja right now. However, he said that Akshar would eventually become a regular in the Indian Test team. “Akshar Patel is very talented but Ravindra Jadeja does well in batting, bowling or fielding. He’s the best team man. ” Said Butt. “Akshar is very talented and I think he will replace Jadeja in the future,” he said. Ajinkya Rahane is leading the team in Kanpur after regular captain Virat Kohli was absent from the opening Test. Kohli will return to lead the team in the second Test.

Rohit Sharma, Bumrah, Rishabh Pant and Mohammad Shami did not play in the first Test. KL Rahul missed with injury. Suryakumar was taken in his place. Shubhman Gill, along with Mayank Agarwal, will start batting for India. Shreyas Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav are likely to play in the middle order in the absence of Hanuma Vihari. The 2nd Test will be played on December 3 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
