
Pinaki Chaudhuri: Tragedy has struck the film industry. While the whole country is celebrating Diwali, the Bengali industry is in a sad mood. Noted Bengali director and two-time best director award winner Pinaki Chaudhary has passed away. He passed away at his residence in Calcutta on Monday after suffering from health problems for some time. Pinaki has been battling lymphoma and lymphatic system cancer for several years.
He was being treated in the hospital till a month ago and as his last wish was to stay at home, his family members brought him home on the advice of the doctors. It seems that his condition worsened on Monday and he breathed his last before his family members could take him to the hospital. In 1983, he was introduced to the silver screen with the film ‘Chena Achchena’ starring Soumitra Chatterjee, Amol Palekar, Tanuja, Chhayadevi and others. In 1996, he received the National Award for the films ‘Shanghat’ and ‘Ballygunj Court’ in 2007. Pinaki has a wife and a son. Many celebrities are expressing deep grief after hearing the news of Pinaki’s death.
