India Tour Postponed

Team India’s tour of South Africa has been postponed for a week. However, the BCCI has not made any statement on this. The decision comes as the Kovid-19 Omicron variant comes to light in South Africa. It is learned that the selection of the BCCI team, which is awaiting clearance from the Indian government, has been suspended. The BCCI has not yet officially confirmed the postponement.

In fact, many media reports said that the selection meeting was to be held after the end of the Kanpur Test and that the players who had been rested for the ongoing 2-match Test series against New Zealand should be on an 8-day quarantine before leaving for South Africa. But so far no communication has taken place with the players.

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly on Tuesday responded to the South Africa tour. He said the board was currently monitoring the situation in South Africa. “It simply came to our notice then. The first test will be held from December 17. Let’s think about it. Player safety and health have always been a BCCI first priority. We have to see what happens in the coming days, ”Ganguly was quoted as saying by PTI. India will play three Tests, three ODIs and four T20Is against South Africa. However, it seems that some matches will be shortened.
